Leigh and Lowton Sailors Had a Blast at the 1st Northern Feva Open Training Event

20 Sailors battled snow, ice, 40 knot winds and freezing temperatures at Yorkshire Dales sailing club at Grimwith Reservoir for the 1st Northern feva training weekend. The weekend started with great excitement and a briefing on teamwork and fitness from Head coach Dave Hivey. Lewis Coop picks up more trophies than he can carry at Guy Fawkes Pursuit

After Doomsday predictions from the weathermen, sailors arrived for the rescheduled (due to no wind) Guy Fawkes Pursuit race with a little trepidation; the weather clearly put a few off with only a lower than normal 25 turning out.  Seeing 25-30 knots plus rain blowing through an hour before the start everyone expected a full-on day’s racing. ‘Barts Bash’ on the 20th September 2015

The sun was out but the wind was nowhere to be seen as sailors and spectators turned up for the annual ‘Barts Bash’ race. Solo Northern Travellers series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club

  The Solo Northern Travellers series resumed after the summer break with 35 helms arriving at Leigh & Lowton sailing club to be greeted by bright sunshine, an unseasonably high air temperature and absolutely no breeze whatsoever. When what little wind there was occasionally filled in it was not across the whole course and came with big wind shifts of up to 90 degrees and throughout the day, when it was there, averaged 4 to 5 knots over the day....

Topper and Optimist Zone Indicators – Double Home Wins for LLSC, Sam Cooper clinches NW Topper Series

Over 50 Northern Topper and Optimist competitors were welcomed by Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club for the Topper Traveller (doubling up as Zone indicator) and Optimist Zone training.
