LLSC Success at RYA Zone Squad Championships

Podium finishes for LLSC in every class at the weekends RYA West Zone Squad champs. LLSC junior sailors continued with their recent top form with a first and third in the optimists from Archie Leckie and Harvey Leigh, a win in the RS Fevas from brother Matt Leckie and Izzy Bristow and a second in the Toppers from Lorcan Knowles. The wind was gusting to about 2mph which made for very challenging racing. Many more LLSC sailors secured the squad positions they were...

LLSC gets 1st 1st 1st at Travellers

LLSC Juniors cleaned up again in the first open meeting after their largest training camp ever in the North West. All 3 fleets at the Redesmere North West Travellers event were claimed by LLSC sailors. Peter Baldwin, OOD on the day praised the effort of LLSC club sailors. He wasn’t prepared to add up the number LLSC sailors who travelled to the event and presented the prize (chocolates) to Lorcan Knowles . They did not last very long. Youth 1st Gareth Staples-Jones...

Junior Camp

With 50 children on the LLSC Summer 2014 Camp it was always going to be a tough job for the instructors. The challenge was made all the more harder on day 1 with an Easterly 15 knots wind 15 gusting 25 blowing straight down the Flash. The great news is that all the children got out on the water and most enjoyed it. There were a few capsizes and the four rescue boats were pressed into service.    Emptyish dinghy park....

LLSC Clean sweep at Junior Travellers

Six members of Team Etech shown on the photo at the Optimist Inlands were recognisable as LLSC juniors. Cool pose Archie. Not quite as cool as the subsequent bullet he claimed in the 200+ fleet though. Just to prove that our lake trained sailors can ‘do it on the sea’ we took a record number of boats including 10 Optimists to West Kirby in the 3 fleets of the junior travellers. Great course set on the Dee estuary in a North...

An early start to the season for our junior members in showing top form once again

The Brass Monkey event was posponed at Christmas time and re run at York Dales SC on Saturday. Congratulations to Oliver Blackburn who threaded his Topper through the 82 strong handicap fleet to finish a fantastic 2nd overall. A pesky 49er pipped him to the post. A two race event in medium winds was just the ticket for Olly, who is actually a Whte Rose lad but wares his Red Rose just for LLSC. Lancashire Lass Steph Wingate finish well in 19th...

Once again Leigh & Lowton juniors show how it should be done.

National Intermediate squaddy Lucy Mearns blitzed the whole entry at weekend to take first place at the National Series event in Pwllheli this weekend. From the first race Lucy’s intentions were obvious. In  8 to 18 knotts her determination to lead the fleet was outstanding. The first day saw 4 races back to back and a further two on the Sunday; in lighter airs, resulted in Miss Mearns discarding a miniscule 4 points. The trail blazing effort left the top boys...
