RNLI Trophy Day – 5 brave Topper sailors put the adults to shame
5 brave Topper sailors put the adults to shame in the RNLI trophy day at Leigh & Lowton. As 25-35 knot winds came down the flash with real feel of -5C in the air the toppers were held down by parents as they rigged!
Only 2 were to survive the full course with racing shortened down to one 30 minute race. With Emma knocked down as she left the shore and Haydn and James succumbing to the conditions, it was left to Dan and Nick to survive some hairy downwind legs to battle to the end. At times all the spectators could see was spray and no boats as they piled downwind.
Well done to the fearless five, here’s then roll of honour!
1st – Dan Budden
2nd – Nick Devereux
Haydn Griffiths
James Grummett
Emma McClusky
