RYA “Try Sailing” day a big success on Pennington Flash

The club hosted a very successful Try Sailing day on Saturday 12th May at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club.  A total of 150 people new to the sport of sailing took to the water for a test sail on a balmy day on the flash.  Many joined up for family and junior memberships, taking up the offers to join courses run by the club’s members to teach them RYA Level 1 and Level 2 sailing and with the opportunity to advance afterwards onto the Improvers sessions and build their confidence towards being fully-fledged sailors.

Many kids took to the water for the first time:

Plenty of adults too:

Picnics, socialising and facepainting were the order of the day:

Some took part in the disability sailing on offer:

Such a big thank you to Dave Kelsall (Vice Commodore) and all his volunteers who worked tirelessly all day to get all these new sailors on the water, keep them fed, watered and safe:

Many thanks and welcome to all our new members, enjoy your sailing experiences with us!!

Richard Catchpole.
