Revett Series 2022 concludes

80 competitors took to the water across the 2022 Revett Series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club, held over the 6 weekends before Xmas.  The range of conditions was immense with sunshine and light winds week 1, a big thunderstorm with 180 degree shifts and hail week 2 and ending up with a frozen lake on the final weekend!!  The OODs did well to get the full quota of races in when the wind and ice allowed.

As ever, the series was very competitive with club sailors and visitors alike enjoying some tight racing over windward/leeway and round-the-cans courses.  We now roll into the very popular New Years Day Pursuit on 1st January and the Tipsy Icicle Series (11 weeks from Sunday 8th January), enter for these events through the link below:

In the Laser fleet, Howard Green (LLSC) came out on top showing some excellent consistency after some really tight racing across the fleet.  Stuart Belfield (LLSC) won 3 races but couldn’t match Howard for consistency while Steve Blackburn (LLSC) couldn’t quite convert his normal Streaker speed into winning margins in the Laser.  First in the 4.7 fleet was John Bridgeman (LLSC).

Lorcan Knowles (LLSC) showed great speed in his newly acquired Supernova in the handicap fleet to head off challenges Tim Coleman and Paul Pritchard (LLSC) in their Albacore.  Nick Turpin (LLSC) sailed his D-Zero consistently across the series to claim 3rd place.

The Asymmetric fleet had some new entrants for the series in the form of Chris Pickles (Bassenthwaite – RS200) and Matt Sharman (Bassenthwaite – Laser 2000) with their young offspring in the front, proving to be fast competitors.  However, nothing could deter Dave Exley and Nigel Hall (LLSC) from taking the overall crown, despite dropping out of consecutive 1st places on the final weekend!  Matt and Oliver finished a creditable 2nd and Richard Catchpole and Gary Coop (LLSC) had a good final weekend to clinch 3rd place overall.

To say that Andy Carter (LLSC) was dominant in the Silo fleet would be understating it a little!  A string of 1st places ensured that he took home the overall spot with ease.  Malcolm Waddington (LLSC) rolled back the years to claim 2nd place while Paul Owen (LLSC) put together a great first series for 3rd.

A great series, even if the latter part was let down by the adverse weather.  Full results in the link below:
