Leigh & Lowton Junior Winter Regatta 2019 46 entries for the 2019 Junior Winter Regatta at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club was a great turnout considering the strong winds forecast for the day. Competitors were treated to some fantastic conditions with 14-18 knots blowing straight down the flash, giving plenty of spills and thrills for parents to watch from the clubhouse. Winds were forecast to gust to 25+ knots and escalate during the day, so the OOD Richard Catchpole and...

45 boats took to the water for the 4th week of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club. Another week of classic conditions; this time 8-14 knots from the the SW gave competitors some excellent racing conditions, with significant gains available from the bands of winds raking down and across the flash. OOD Steve Norris was able to lay an excellent round-the-cans course with good beats and runs and the odd reach thrown in for good measure....
The 3rd week of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club produced the best sailing conditions yet. An 8-12 knot NE breeze enabled OOD Graeme Bristow and his team to lay out 2 superb separate courses across the Flash from one start boat. This kept the Asymmetrics happy with their windward-leeward format and the other fleets had clear wind and mark roundings. Onlookers had plenty of action to follow, and were “tweeting” on the live feed….. The...
The Revett winter series continued into its 2nd week at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club and competitors were greeted with by a fresh Easterly blowing down the lake and sunshine to boot. The wind didn’t quite behave to forecast and kept teasing the OOD Caroline Exley and her team with a Northerly tendency. This created a day of tough strategies for competitors and you could be hero one minute and licking your wounds the next as places chopped and changed...
The first Sunday of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club brought a light drizzle for the early risers, but sunshine for the rest of the day. The OOD Dave Exley and his team overcame some testing conditions to set true upwind legs and the 50 competitors were rewarded with some excellent, if shifty, racing in a 5-12 knot S/SW breeze. First out of the blocks (with not a general recall in sight) were the Laser fleet....
Andy Dawson was the clear winner of a very tight finish to the Guy Fawkes Pursuit Race at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club on Sunday November 3rd. All the top 6 finishers were within 50 metres of each other at the finish, making the OOD split them carefully; difficult when asymmetrics are sailing a different direction to the rest of the fleet downwind! A force 2 saw the groups of youngsters come off the start line well with a strong...
