Marlow Ropes Show comes to LLSC

Tom, James and Mark (from 1st Mark chandlers) educated the audience on the way modern ropes are designed and the intense development pressures being imposed by modern high tech, higher powered flying machines. Thanks to all at Marlow Ropes for an entertaining evening and their sponsorship of the Marlow Ropes Tipsy Icicle Series at LLSC this year.

Tipsy Series Changes

Following the unprecedented conditions during January of either no wind or too much wind, resulting in the loss of most of the races, we have taken the decision to amend the schedule for the remainder of the series in order to run additional races. From Sunday 10th February the first race each Sunday is now scheduled to start at 11:30 rather than the previous 12:00. This will allow time for a 3rd race each day. The plan is 1 race...

Sailing Cancelled Sunday 27th January

Given the wind forecast for tomorrow is for 25 gusting 40+ we have taken the reluctant decision to cancel sailing and the club will be closed for the day. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday.

Leigh & Lowton Junior Winter Regatta 2019 46 entries for the 2019 Junior Winter Regatta at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club was a great turnout considering the strong winds forecast for the day.  Competitors were treated to some fantastic conditions with 14-18 knots blowing straight down the flash, giving plenty of spills and thrills for parents to watch from the clubhouse. Prizegiving and Xmas party – disco inferno!

The Annual Prizegiving and Xmas party went with a swing with 115 members filling the Clubhouse to near capacity.  A Prizegiving culminating with Ben Welfare, Brian Sprague and Richard Catchpole picking up the 3 club champion trophies, Freddie Wood winning the most improved junior and Gerald Dawson winning the golden boot for the parent supporting youngsters the most on the road.  Thanks to Martin Tubb and Will/Lindsay Welfare for organising.  Some of our youngsters were on hand to receive congratulations...

Revett Series Week 4 – the penultimate weekend

45 boats took to the water for the 4th week of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club. Another week of classic conditions; this time 8-14 knots from the the SW gave competitors some excellent racing conditions, with significant gains available from the bands of winds raking down and across the flash. OOD Steve Norris was able to lay an excellent round-the-cans course with good beats and runs and the odd reach thrown in for good measure....

Leigh & Lowton Revett Series continues to sparkle

The 3rd week of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club produced the best sailing conditions yet. An 8-12 knot NE breeze enabled OOD Graeme Bristow and his team to lay out 2 superb separate courses across the Flash from one start boat. The Revett winter series continued into its 2nd week at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club and competitors were greeted with by a fresh Easterly blowing down the lake and sunshine to boot. The wind didn’t quite behave to forecast and kept teasing the OOD Caroline Exley and her team with a Northerly tendency.
