Junior Camp

With 50 children on the LLSC Summer 2014 Camp it was always going to be a tough job for the instructors. The challenge was made all the more harder on day 1 with an Easterly 15 knots wind 15 gusting 25 blowing straight down the Flash. The great news is that all the children got out on the water and most enjoyed it. There were a few capsizes and the four rescue boats were pressed into service.    Emptyish dinghy park....

Hannah & Graeme Bristow 4th at RS500 World Championships

Congratulations from all at Leigh & Lowton SC to Hannah & Graeme Bristow on an amazing 4th place overall in a highly competitive 51 strong fleet at the RS500 world championships in Loctudy, Brittany, France. Race 4 saw them take the bullet by a country mile and they scored a 2nd and a 3rd in other races. 2014 Laser Open

On the 3rd August 2014 Leigh & Lowton sailing club hosted their annual Laser open meeting which forms part of the North West travellers series.The 24 helms who attended were greeted by bright sunshine and a fluctuating SSW Force 4 breeze that increased as the day went on with some big gusts. Toughest Racing of the Year

Remember the first time you ever raced a dinghy? Today eight new junior sailors joined normal Saturday racing for their first ever official taste of club racing in the OpTop Olympics which was run along with Saturday Racing. Leigh & Lowton sailing club regatta weekend inc. the Miracle Inlands & Optimist NW Area Championships.

The weekend of the 12th and 13th July saw Leigh & Lowton sailing club play host to a total of 68 boats as the Miracle inland championships and the North West junior Optimist championships were run alongside the clubs annual regatta weekend. I have received the sad News that Carl Humphries passed away on Wednesday evening 9/7/14. Carl had been fighting Cancer for almost 18 months. For those that didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him. He was the Husband of Di and Dad of Ali and Rory. Ali sailed Toppers at the club and went through the squads with Laura more latterly sailing an RS200 and acting as an instructor for the club.
