Sparkling Champagne Conditions at Leigh & Lowton

The Revett winter series continued into its 2nd week at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club and competitors were greeted with by a fresh Easterly blowing down the lake and sunshine to boot. The wind didn’t quite behave to forecast and kept teasing the OOD Caroline Exley and her team with a Northerly tendency. This created a day of tough strategies for competitors and you could be hero one minute and licking your wounds the next as places chopped and changed...

Sunshine & Shifts for the Revett Series Opener

The first Sunday of the Revett winter series at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club brought a light drizzle for the early risers, but sunshine for the rest of the day. The OOD Dave Exley and his team overcame some testing conditions to set true upwind legs and the 50 competitors were rewarded with some excellent, if shifty, racing in a 5-12 knot S/SW breeze. First out of the blocks (with not a general recall in sight) were the Laser fleet....

Harvey Leigh wins Laser 4.7 Inlands

The breezy conditions at Laser Inlands at Rutland were to Harvey’s liking.  At times the conditions were marginal for racing and he and Scott Forbes (Loch Lomond) battled it out at the front, head and shoulders above the rest of the fleet.  Needing to win the last race to win the event, Harvey finished first with Scott trailing behind in 5th which was enough to clinch it!  A great result and just rewards for the effort he’s put in over...

Blowing “old boots” at the Endeavour Trophy

The RS200 is an unfamiliar boat for Lorcan and he had got practice and tips beforehand with club members and his chosen...

Solo, Enterprise and Streaker Open

A great turnout of 54 boats made the trip to Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club for the 2018 Solo, Enterprise and Streaker Open. The light winds forecast came in mid-morning to set up what looked like a good day’s sailing. In the event the wind proved a little more fickle with 4-8 knots coming through and fluctuating through the day. The OOD Mike Baldwin tussled with changing winds to set the fleets off with a little delay, with the 30...
