L&L Youngsters dominate the Tera Northern Circuit

The Tera Northern Series took place over 7 weekends this summer at venues as varied as Leigh & Lowton, Derwent and even the Isle of Man. John Bridgeman clinched the RS Tera Sport Series Trophy after winning the last 2 events, finishing in great style. Tom Pritchard-Jones and Freddie Wood also competed well across the series, finishing 4th and 5th respectively. The Tera Pro fleet was less well attended as a series, but Nat Pritchard-Jones won the LLSC open earlier...

Solo Open 2019

Following a very difficult day for the Race Officer and the event management team on Saturday, it was decided the trickle of a breeze was insufficient to run the event. Unfortunately for some, no racing took place. All was far from lost, as the local Race Officer and team were willing to try again on Sunday with promises of a steady westerly. On Sunday 16 helms had covered and stored their boats with the intention to return to sail, the...

LLSC Juniors take Southport 12hr by Storm!

The build up to the event had been a little stressful with the juniors training to use symmetrical kites and genoas on the GP14s on Friday nights under the tuition of Julia, Lewis, Richard and John.  Some last minute issues with one of the boats meant a quick switch-around to Julia/Joe’s GP (thanks!) and last minute modifications to put it all together. Come Saturday morning at 7.30am the team were assembled with boats fully rigged, ready for their pre-race briefing...

Leigh & Lowton SC Regatta Weekend 2019

A weekend of family fun and entertainment! The wind gods had decreed that this was going to be no sunshine-fest but the weather held out enough to allow glimpses of sunshine amongst the showers and fine Saturday night. Saturday consisted of a family fun day with kids entertained by instructors Lindsay, Will and Tash with duck races, relays, paddling and plenty of splashing around – no one really cared that it was raining.  The adults meanwhile enjoyed some light wind...

Wild end to RS400 Winter Championships at LLSC!

There was an awesome turnout of 26 boats  for the RS400 Rope4Boats and Rooster Winter Championship hosted by LLSC over the weekend of 23/24th March. As crews were rigging their boats a quick look around the dinghy park made them aware of the high quality of competition present and the anticipation grew nicely as the breeze gently eased up to a force 2 gusting 3 for the first race. The first start was abandoned by the PRO’s Gareth & Jenny...

A spectacular day to sign off on the Marlow Tipsy Icicle Series!

After the howling gales of the previous week caused racing to be abandoned, sailors attending the final day of the Marlow Tipsy Icicle Series were treated to a hard but satisfying days sailing to finish with.  Gusts of 30 knots were recorded by Peter Baldwin’s race team with the first race generally in the 18 knot range turning down a notch or two in the afternoon to finish at 13 knots, even dropping to 8 knots for one lap in...

Marlow Ropes Icicle Series Week 9 – unpredictable weather conditions keep competitors guessing

Sailors were surprised to be drifting around the lake for the first race of the day when the predicted southerly wind died away to practically nothing after a couple of starts had got away.  OOD Mike Baldwin and team had just enough wind to give everyone a lap of racing, except for the juniors who were shortened after just 3 legs were complete.  Everyone was relieved to see the breeze fill in from the east during lunch and after some...
