Optimists Fleet A fleet of 240 sailors entered the Optimists Braassemermeer Regatta in The Nederland’s. Alan Williams was the lead GBR coach supported by three more coaches. There were other ribs on hand to support Development Squad and other GB sailors. Alan Williams had briefed sailors and parents not to allow activities which might lead to injury. On 9/10th April the RYA North & Midland RS Feva XL Zone Squad returned to Leigh & Lowton for its final winter training weekend. This was the third time that Leigh & Lowton has hosted the squad this winter having kindly stepped in at short notice when Windermere School sailing centre was unfortunately flooded out last December. The latest yearbook and your 2016 boat berth sticker(s) are available for collection at the club. Come along to collect them, and display them as soon as possible. Remember – Boat stickers need to be placed on your boat so that they are visible even when your cover is on. Budworth Sailing Club is re-introducing its two-boat team-racing competition and has invited LLSC to send a team to the event which will take place over the last weekend of November. The event will be open to 12 teams of four sailors with experienced on-water umpires. The entry fee is £180 per team which includes lunches and dinner on the Saturday evening. Nine optimist sailors braved the rain and cold at Leigh and Lowton sailing club for the second IOCA winter training session. Chris Barnes was the RYA qualified instructor. The North West IOCA training is both at West Kirby and Leigh and Lowton giving a combination of sea and lake sailing . Future Optimist Courses Next Session is on 23rd January.
