Entries are invited for the National 12 Inland Championship organised by Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club on 5/6th November 2011 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 The RYA prescriptions to the Racing Rules of Sailing will apply. 1.3 The Sailing Instructions will apply. 1.4 Racing rule 40 will be changed – Use of personal buoyancy. When on the water competitors shall wear adequate personal buoyancy.

Leigh & Lowton Juniors wrap up the season in style. The finale of the North West Topper Traveller Series 2011 was held at Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club with 42 boats competing for honours and fighting for Zone Squad qualification places. With winds varying from force 2 – 5 through the day Leigh provided ideal conditions to test competitors in a wide range of conditions.

Results Laser Solo Paul Allen’s Gallery Malolm Waddington’s Gallery Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club hosted the latest round of the Laser and Solo Northern Travellers on Sunday 25th September. The forecast was spot on – a shifty southerly force 2 – 4. The first race was scheduled to start at 11am with two more to follow during the course of the day. Class captains busied themselves with welcoming visitors whilst the race team led by family Allen and Chris Bassett set about sorting the race area.

Leigh and Lowton SC hosted the final event of the RYA North West Senior Traveller Trophy on Tuesday 20th September. This mid-week handicap event for the over 50s has attracted 39 boats from just 4 clubs. The day started with light rain and little wind but steadily improved as the day wore on, with sunshine and 10 knots of wind by the last race. After a short postponement the first race got under way in little more than drifting conditions.

Our team sailed in some very testing conditions last weekend at the 45th West Lancs Yacht Club 24 Hour race. The team consisted of Andy Green, Brogan Griffiths, Andy Price, Dave Hawkes, Kaye Tickle, Laura Barnes, Chester Candish, John Wingeatt, Ashley Southwell, Ken Irwin, Chris Wheeler, Mike Baldwin, Tony Hardwick, Wayne Atherton, Mark Atherton, Ali Humphries, Megan Griffiths and Jenny Cant. We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in obtaining a Lottery Funded Sport England Grant towards the cost of two new training dinghies for the club. The two Topper Xenons will release two of our club GPs to become available for use for our newly qualified members to hire to improve their skills on the water before taking the important decision about what dinghy is the best one for them to progress to.

Well done to all the LnL juniors representing us at North Berwick 2011 Topper Nationals. Curtis Means lead the team finishing an impressive 3rd out of 274! Full results
