Well done to all those juniors and parents who travelled up to Ullswater last weekend for the RYA BYS Championships. This is the annual area championships (Zone Champs as was) for experienced and novice sailors alike with the onboard fleets introduced to coach youngsters alongside the racing fleets. Blue skies greeted the competitors from all over the North of England, plus plenty of wind which made it testing for the newer sailors! An excellent time was had by all, thanks...

Thanks to all the coaching staff that makes all these junior activities possible and for all the parents that are stepping up to help in...

A great turnout of 54 boats made the trip to Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club for the 2018 Solo, Enterprise and Streaker Open. The light winds forecast came in mid-morning to set up what looked like a good day’s sailing. In the event the wind proved a little more fickle with 4-8 knots coming through and fluctuating through the day. The OOD Mike Baldwin tussled with changing winds to set the fleets off with a little delay, with the 30...
The Southport 24hr race is one of the most testing, competitive, fun and friendly events in the dinghy racing calendar. This year was no exception with 77 entries, making it the biggest for some years. Leigh & Lowton entered a total of 3 teams this year with a GP team, Enterprise team and a GP Masters team – this was the first time (ever?) that we have entered 3 teams, having upped the ante again from last year’s 2 teams....
Lindsay and Will have compiled the following updates and links for our juniors and parents to mull over in the coming few weeks, it is very informative and well worth a good read – many thanks to both of you: Training on Friday nights has now finished, but as mentioned last Friday, there is still lots happening over the rest of the year. As well as the usual sailing at LLSC on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, there are a series...

Well done to all and...
The 12-hour race has been a significant event in the NW junior calendar for a good few years now. This year was no different and for the first time we had enough juniors to enter 2 teams and everyone could get out on the water. The team was set up early Saturday morning for Julia’s 7.20am briefing, ready for the off at 8.00am in a light force 2 breeze. Harvey & Lewis got the Enterprise team underway and we soon...
Participants at the 2018 Regatta Weekend were treated to sunshine, breeze, zorbing, BBQ and a full family weekend, plus a torrential downpour! Saturday With an extra emphasis this year on making this a family-orientated weekend, our juniors were split into red, blue and yellow teams to have 2-in-a-boat racing, duck-and-ball games and a topper paddling racing in the only torrential downpour of the day, despite the forecasters predicting worse. The teams were evenly matched and the edible prizes were spread...
