Jo Platt, MP for Leigh, came along to Pennington Flash to check out the RYA Try Sailing day (Push the Boat Out). After a short postponement for an early lunch due to lack of wind, the early morning drizzle lifted and Saturday racing got underway in a shifting 8 knot SW breeze came in to give a good first days’ racing. Saturday 8th July dawned with a disappointing forecast from the wind strength point of view although the predicted direction was ideal for sailing at Leigh and Lowton; straight down the length of the lake.
