The first round of the Intermediate ‘OpTopOlympics’ was held today in wet, but not too windy, conditions. A square course was set, single lap races, no handicap (yet). Harvey made a blistering start in the first race, and set the pace for the whole lap, the youngest sailor had obviously been paying most attention on the camp. Not what was expected by all accounts. Seventy entrants in the male category, thirty five in the female category. Andy Green was first Brit coming in 25th place overall with his best placing a 2nd. Well done Andy. Georgina Povall was the first Brit female coming in 3rd overall.

Results: 2012 Solo Northern Champs 2012 Solo Northern Traveller A breezy first day with average wind speeds in the region of 16-18 knots and 31 knot gusts coming through gave tiring sailing to the 26 boats which set out for the first race (leaving several on the shore). John Kelly Olympic Torch Update

John has now received his white tracksuit and is all set to carry the Olympic torch on Saturday 23rd June. He will be carrying the torch on Bury New Road (A56) between Cross Street (opposite Whitefield Fire Station) and Church Lane, with an anticipated start-time of 4.24 pm. We hope to get a group to cheer and support John – we’ll work on a meeting point so people know where to be at what time and post more details soon.
