Fifteen boats came to the start line for the RS300 Inland Championship 2012 held at Leigh & Lowton Sailing |Club on the weekend of 20th & 21st October. Despite the forecast for light winds, some of the visitors were well travelled from areas as distant as Portsmouth, Cheddar and Sunderland. Day 1 A dry and gusty day on Pennington Flash at Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club for the RYA Volvo West Zone Championships, average wind speed between 15 – 16 knots with gusts of 23-25 knots throughout the day, with the safety fleet kept busy with several capsizes throughout the day.
Henry Wright from the RYA will be running the RYA’s Club Race Officer course at the club on Saturday 24th November 2012, starting at 2.00pm prompt. (Approximate length of course 3 hours.) Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club hosted the penultimate round of this increasingly popular series on a stormy Tuesday 18th September. A shifty westerly breeze greeted National 12 sailors at Pennington Flash over the bank holiday weekend for the Summer Event, which is part of the National Gill Series.
