Revett Week 1 – 53 Boats enjoy perfect conditions
Leigh and Lowton Sailing Clubs open Revett series started with perfect conditions on Sunday 13th November. 53 boats including visitors from Sheffield Viking, Bassenthwaite, Elton, Crosby, Blackpool and Fleetwood and West Riding enjoyed a perfect force 3 easterly breeze. PRO Paul Allen set a long course including a windward leg the length of the flash
In the Asymmetric fleet Hamish Gledhill started a perfect series counting two bullets in his RS400. In joint 2nd and 3rd Caroline Exley and Jude Allen are equal on 5 points with Martin and Liam Parker. After a hard days racing it’s tight at the top of the competitive Laser fleet with 1 point separating the top three. Dave Shiel and Paul Heath are counting 4 points and Richard Marsh is counting 5. The handicap fleet was the largest of the day with 27 starters. Chris Gillard is currently leading counting two consistent 2nd places. The Merlin Rocket of Steve Hunt and Ruth Critchley are in 2nd place after winning race 2 by some distance. Christian Day and Sophie Richards are first N12 and 3rd overall counting a 4th and a 3rd.
The stage is set for another brilliant winter series. Week two starts on Sunday 20th November. £5 pp per day and £4 for juniors. The galley will be serving hot meals throughout the day. Visitors and spectators are invited to watch the fun from the new lounge extension.
