Introduction to Racing Course – Week 1 Report

A dismal forecast for the day but several sailors, old and new, turned up to attend Dave Eccles’ first day of the RYA Introduction to Racing Course.

After a brief soaking the lively winds, yes plural and from all directions at once, dried off the small but very enthusiastic fleet and the day proved to be very enjoyable as Dave shared his secrets with a hungry audience. The course, intended to arm sailors with the knowledge and ability to take part in club racing, is not just for new sailors. If you are used to racing but feel that your results are not reflecting the effort you are putting in then the course is an opportunity to fine tune your efforts and translate your frustration into better and more consistant results. There is also the chance to ask questions and experiment with rig settings and tactics. So watch out for those that attended – you may see more of their transoms.

If you would like to be a better and more confident racer and take place on the next course (July 30th) please email Dave [email protected]
