Our Open Day

Over 100 people visited Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club on Saturday 21st May to see what the club could offer them. From raw beginners to people who learnt to sail on holiday and wanted to pick up where they had left off to people who learnt to sail with the sea Scouts many years ago and wanted to start again, all enjoyed a great time with good weather and some good winds. A number of sprint races were held close to the clubhouse in the morning with Andy Green coming out on top with four straight wins.
Several junior helms spent the day giving other young people a taste of sailing in the club Fevas and the club Stratos dinghy spent the day giving some great sailing for people from the ages of 7 to some sprightly ladies in their 70’s.
So far, the day’s efforts have meant that the club has gained six new memberships, three joining on the day and three more in the four days after the event. A great result for the club and all those who participated.
