Leigh and Lowton Success at Bass North West Junior Travellers

It doesnt happen too often but Leigh and Lowton scored firsts in all 3 main fleets on Saturdays North West Junior Travellers. Lorcan Knowles, Harvey Leigh and Gareth Staples Jones all won there classes. The Bassenthwaite commodore commented how close the racing was. Finally new LLSC member Noe Peckham picked up the endeavour prize for a plucky performance.

Optimist Battle

Optimists have been out in force on three Sundays at Leigh and Lowton Sailing Clubs Winter Series. The North Optimist Championship has been held alongside the Tipsy Icicle and has quickly earned a reputation as the toughest winter oppy racing in the North. Racing has been divided into three divisions depending on which training squad the sailor was part of. Junior Training in Snow and Ice. North Optimist Racing

A dozen brave juniors took part in the NW IOCA optimist training on Saturday in steady winds as part of the junior winter training program.   North Optimists sailors joined in with the Tipsy Icicle series. LLSC Junior Winter Regatta

The LLSC Junior Winter Regatta on 3rd January attracted 44 entries to Pennington Flash. The galley was bustling from 9.00 clock with travellers arriving as far away from Bowmoor, Windemere and Brennig for this annual event.  The first race was started from the committee boat on time at 11.00am by OOD Richard Catchpole in a very light NE wind.  A great lunch was served by the galley and racing was resumed at 2.00pm when the forecasted wind of F1-2 Westerly arrived giving...
