During week commencing the 31st May LLSC hosted more Topper and Optimist High Performance training which is reported on Yachts and Yachting at http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/190007/RYA-High-Performance-Club-training

Of equal importance to the club was our ever popular spring camp for club youngsters.Spring Camp 2016

This is a three day event where we have experienced coaches working with youngsters of various abilities from absolute beginners to the more accomplished racers.

Blessed with sunshine and fair winds lead coaches Howard Green and Dave Eccles ably assisted by Lewis Coop, Bobby Hewitt and John Bridgeman put the youngsters through their paces. By the end of the three days even those participants who had never been in a dinghy before were racing around a triangular course in a decent breeze, thereby ticking off a large number of the requirements for the RYA level 1/2 certification. Bobby, who is a past National, European and World Feva Champion, took sailors for an exciting blast in the club Feva which was probably one of the highlights! Other highlights to be counted were the bin-bag race and the capsize recovery practice for which there were many ‘can we do it again’ requests. The warm water helps!

Many parents were on the shore helping launch and recovery and much needed nourishment which is always an invaluable contribution to the overall success of this type of event.Thursday at Spring Camp 2016 Spring Camp 2016
