Electronic Noticeboard and Weather Station

The club recently installed a new electronic noticeboard which displays :-

  • Windguru forecast – The latest live forecast for Pennington Flash.
  • Duties !!! – Please check your duties.
  • Live photos – Snap a photo with your phone and email it straight onto the noticeboard.
  • Results –  Live results and series points.
  • Weather station data – See below
  • Events – Details of upcoming events

Our weather station is mounted on the clubhouse roof near the OOD box. The system was installed some years ago by Mike Baldwin. The hardware made by Davies is excellent but due to the changes in internet software it had become buggy.

We have just completed a significant software upgrade and the system now offers different screens depending on your requirement. A new computer was donated by LLSC member Mark Denison  for the project has brought the rest of the hardware up to date.

The screens are as follows:-

1.  An OOD can look at this screen via the internet. It shows the important wind speed, wind speed gust and direction. This display was custom written and needs Flash so is not available from an iphone/ipad. The weather is displayed on the OOD computer, on the electronic notice board in the clubhouse and on any computer via the link on the website.

2.  Live Weather Dials –  Members wanting to see the live weather at the club should use this option. Dials are shown and these should work with and browser on any machine.

3. Weather graphs.  Take a look if you want to see the weather graphs for the club. They should build up over the next 12 months. Actual records for the club weather station are available from the live OOD weather display.

All the weather reports can be accessed via the ‘Live Weather’ option on the website at www.llsc.org.uk.
