GJW 2012/13 Winter Series Information

Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club have teamed up with GJW Direct Insurance who will sponsor and support the Club’s sailing programme throughout the 2012/13 Winter Season.2012/13 Winter Series Dates

  • Guy Fawkes Pursuit – 4 November, Opi start 12:40pm
  • Revett Open Series – 10 races, 2 per day, 11 Nov – 9 Dec, midday start
  • New Years Day Pursuit – 1st Jan, Opi start 12:40pm
  • Tipsy Icicle Open Series – 20 races, 2 per day, 6 Jan – 10 March, midday start

The GJW Direct Winter Season starts on Sunday 11th November 2012 with the Revett Series. Two races are sailed each Sunday starting at midday and lasting for five weeks. Fleets sailed with separate starts will be Asymmetric, Handicap and Lasers. Prizes will also be awarded to Juniors, Solos and all classes with more than 5 qualifying entrants.

The Winter Season then continues with a pursuit race on New Year’s Day (12:40 Optimist start time).

On the 6th January the much anticipated UK’s biggest Winter series, the Tipsy Icicle, will start and run for 10 weeks ending on the 10th March 2013. Fleets again will consist of Asymmetric, Handicap and Lasers with prizes for Juniors and other classes. Everyone is welcome.

Winter Series Sailing Instructions

Visitors can pay on a week by week basis or pay for a full series. Entry fees are £6 per person per day and £5 for juniors/U18s. Visitors paying for the full series are welcome to leave their boats at the club for the duration of that series. Inclusive winter series entry including 3 pursuit races and 15 Sundays is £75 per person, and £60 for juniors.
